What's Up for 2018!
All camps this summer will be run through the Chagrin Valley Rec Center. Thus, all camps will be held on the Chagrin Falls High School campus, adjacent to the Rec Center at 400 East Washington Street. Registration for summer programs will also be run through the Rec Center, and registration links on this site will direct you to the Rec registration.
Learn to Play Lacrosse Camp
June 5, 6 and 7, Tu-Th / 9am-12pm
Come see what all the buzz is about! Beginning players will learn the basics of lacrosse: catching, throwing, cradling, ground balls, etc. Camp will be led by Gordon Glass of Gateway Lacrosse and college-level athletes. The unique Gateway methodology incorporates fun drills and emphasizes the translation of athletic skills (throwing and catching techniques, hand-eye skill, footwork, etc.) into the game of lacrosse. Gateway Lacrosse Camp
Session 1: June 18-22 M-F / 9am-12pm
Session 2: July 9-13 M-F / 9am-12pm
This camp is designed for players with previous experience (such as completion of the Learn to Play Lacrosse Camp on June 5-7). Camp will be led by Gordon Glass of Gateway Lacrosse and college-level athletes. Gateway's unique teaching method incorporates an understanding of athletic skills (throwing and catching, hand-eye, footwork, etc.) and applies them to lacrosse. Camp reinforces basics and focuses on concepts such as setting a pick, Zone D, spacing, communication, and character development. Learn how your feet, core, hands and eyes incorporate into athletic skills that simplify lacrosse as well as the other sports. Expect soccer balls, frisbees, volleyballs, water balloons, skipping ropes, and agility ladders. Girls equipment needed: mouth guard, goggles and lacrosse stick. Boys equipment needed: helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, arm pads, and lacrosse stick. (Equipment other than mouth guards, goggles, and sticks can be rented at Step-in). Help your child become a better athlete this summer by moving beyond traditional sport-specific camps. Led by Gordon Glass (Gateway Lacrosse) and college-level athletes, this camp is designed for those wanting to develop their athletic skills, sports IQ and leadership qualities. Through traditional (B-ball, soccer, etc.) and recreational (frisbee, kickball, etc.) sports, kids will learn how feet, core, hips, shoulders, hands and eyes work together to develop stronger athletic abilities. Concepts taught include communication, spacing, and team play. Each day will focus on a character quality important for athletes such as respect and commitment. May include time in the pool to cool off on hot days. No equipment required. Bring a water bottle, swimsuit and towel. For more information, click here.
