2011 Summer Schedule

Gateway Lacrosse apologizes for its tardiness informing you of the 2011 summer schedule. This summer, we will offer one camp for campers entering grades 2 through 9 – boys and girls – from Monday, July 18 – Friday, July 22 at Gurney Elementary School in Chagrin Falls.

Our format will be slightly changed. Campers can choose from 1/2 day sessions, morning or afternoon, or full day sessions.

Monday – Thursday:

  • 9:15 – 11:30 = First Session
  • 11:30 – 12:30 = Lunch
  • 12:30 – 2:45 = Second Session

Friday:

  • 9:00 – 12:00 = All campers

Cost:

  • 1/2 Session = $125
  • Full Session = $220
  • Lunch = $20 (Monday – Thursday)

Campers need the following equipment: Boys- Helmet, gloves, elbow pads, shoulder pads, stick, mouth piece, cleats (optional), cup Girls- Eye goggles, stick, mouth piece and cleats (optional)

Note: Gateway Lacrosse is working on a mega-project for 2012 which has affected our 2011 offerings. We anticipate a 2012 program which will outshine anything we have done in the past.

Gateway Lacrosse is pleased to announce its Summer 2011 Staff, which is comprised of some of the best players and coaches from the Greater Cleveland Area. The following coaches have confirmed:

Phil Chapman: Phil graduated from Wheaton college this past fall where he contributed as a defenseman for four years. He graduated high school from WRA where he started for the nationally ranked Pioneers. Phil has worked at Gateway for three
years. Next year, Phil will be coaching youth lacrosse in Manchester, England.

Colby Wilson: Colby is a Junior midfield/attackman at Colgate University. While playing at WRA, Colby was an All-American, MVP of the MSLCA, and chosen to play in the Under Armour All-American Game, where he was named South MVP. He was also part of the WRA squad that won the MSLCA title in 2006.

Pat Behm: Pat graduated from Kenston High School where he was the male athlete of the year, All-Ohio defense player of the year for Division II for football, and was All-Ohio for lacrosse for Division II. Pat just finished his freshman year at Mercyhurst college where he represented the Lakers in football and lacrosse. The Lakers lacrosse team was the 2010-2011Division II National Champions

KC Callahan: KC graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University and was a part of the Battlin Bishop team that went 20-9 during a two-year period, winning a portion of the NCAC championship in 2010. For two years, KC was part of the team made NCAA Division III Tournament appearances. As a high school player, Callahan was a three-year varsity player at St. Ignatius High School.

Molly Merrill: Molly was an all-state performer and captain of the Medina girls
lacrosse team in high school. She moved on to become the Captain and all-time
leading scorer at Notre Dame College. Molly is currently teaching special
education at Mentor High School where she is head coach of the girls lacrosse team.

Gateway Announces Summer 2010 Staff

Gateway Lacrosse is pleased to announce its Summer 2010 Staff, which is comprised of some of the best players and coaches from the Greater Cleveland Area. The following coaches have confirmed:

Keith Lee: Keith is a junior at Robert Morris University, where he has been the face-off specialist and a starting midfielder since his freshman year, when he was named to the Colonial Athletic Association All-Rookie Team. In high school, Keith was a captain and All-MSLCA midfielder for WRA, and helped the team win the MSLCA title in 2006.

Audi Glass: Audi graduated in ‘09 from Bishop’s University in Canada. He was a captain, two-time All-Canadian defender, and was named Canadian University Lacrosse Graduating Player of the Year. Upon graduation, Audi travelled to Adelaide, South Australia to play with the Woodville Warriors Lacrosse Club. He is currently the Assistant Head Coach for the Solon HS Varsity Team.

Colby Wilson: Colby is a sophomore attackman at Colgate University. While playing at WRA, Colby was an All-American, MVP of the MSLCA, and chosen to play in the Under Armour All-American Game, where he was named South MVP. He was also part of the WRA squad that won the MSLCA title in 2006.

Amanda Wilson: A high school All-American at WRA, Amanda played goalie for 2 years for Div. 1 UConn before transferring to Denison University, where she was a 2-year starter. She was a captain for the Big Red her senior year, when she was 1st team All-Conference and 2nd team All-Region. Last summer, she played for the Woodville Warriors Lacrosse Club in Adelaide, South Australia, where she won the Best & Fairest Award as the team’s MVP. She is currently a student Assistant Coach at Denison University.

Bill Schmoldt: Bill, currently in his 4th season as the Head Coach at John Carroll University. After a successful university career at Marquette University, where he was twice a captain and All-Conference defender, Bill helped coach the freshman, JV and varsity teams at his alma mater St. Ignatius High School. He brings over 15 years of playing and coaching experience at the high school and collegiate level.

Bobby Tyler: Bobby is currently a freshman at UMass, where he is part of a 3-man defensive midfield rotation. He graduated from Hudson High School in 2009, where he was part of the 2007 state finalist squad, and was a Captain and All-American his senior year.

Sam Carmony: A 2007 Graduate from College of Wooster, Sam was a 4-year letterwinner and 2-time captain defender for the Fighting Scots. Sam is currently the Head Coach for the Massilon Jackson HS Varsity Lacrosse Team.

Kyle Bernlohr: A junior at Western Reserve Academy, where he has been a starting goaltender since his freshman year. As a sophomore, he was named First-Team All-MSLCA and MSLCA Tournament Defensive MVP, and was chosen to represent the Midwest in the Under Armour Underclassmen Games. Kyle has committed verbally to University of Maryland.

Brian Schmoldt: After graduating from St. Ignatius High School, Brian continued his playing career at Wheeling Jesuit University, where he played midfield and faced off for the Cardinals. Since his graduation in 2005, Brian has worked as a Varsity Assistant at St. Edwards High School, where he has been coaching midfield, attack, face-offs, goalies, and offense.

Paige Cowie: Paige is currently a sophomore at Connecticut College, where she plays attack for the Camels. Paige graduated from WRA in ’08, where she was a captain and selected to the All-Midwest team.
